5. Neurological and Vascular Medications

  • Ergot Alkaloids: Derived from the parasitic grain fungus Claviceps purpurea, these compounds have yielded medications for severe migraines (such as ergotamine), postpartum hemorrhage control (ergometrine), and treatments for Parkinson’s disease and hyperprolactinemia (like bromocriptine and cabergoline).
